A group of 260 students from 5th to 10th standard, accompanied by their teachers from Wisdom School, Nanjangud, visited the Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC), University of Mysore, on 27th and 28th October 2025 as part of an educational trip.
The students visited the EMRC Lounge in three batches, where Mr. Keerthi Kumar, Cameraman at EMRC Mysore, took them on a fascinating journey through the evolution of digital media in education. They were introduced to various audio and video production equipment, explored the media museum showcasing historic audio-visual devices, and learned about the transformation of educational technology over the decades.
Experts at EMRC explained the functioning of cameras, microphones, recording systems, and green screen technology, giving the students an in-depth understanding of how educational programmes are planned and produced. The students also enjoyed a hands-on experience presenting on television, gaining a glimpse into real-time production environments.
The visit was both educational and inspiring, sparking curiosity about the world of media and its role in learning. Guided enthusiastically by their teachers, the students returned with new insights and memorable experiences beyond the classroom.
